In response to the New Labour Code which was passed by Lithuanian Seimas, the protest will be held today 22 June 8:00pm in Vilnius Kudirka Square (Gedimino pr. 9A).
The #gyvenimasperbrangus movement calls everyone to join in protest to the discrimination against the workers rights. The activists began their protests in Kaunas City Garden last week, when they occupied a public square and set up their tents. For more information see “Protestivalis: #gyvenimasperbrangus”. Yesterday, after the assembly, #gyvenimasperbrangus announced that their protest will be relocated from Kaunas to Vilnius.
The post on the “Arsi ar Pasikarsi” Facebook wall reads:
Seimas passed the New Labour Code. It is harmful to all the people of Lithuania who are involved in any kind of work relations. Politicians showed an utter disregard towards the wellbeing and interests of the workers, labour unions, and citizens of Lithuania in general. All the attempts to make the New Labour Code more favourable towards the employees were rejected. THEY DO NOT REPRESENT US – THIS IS WHY WE ARE LEADING THE FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS OURSELVES. WE WILL NOT STEP BACK. Share this message, invite people to join the event – today, 8:00pm we gather in Kudirka Square, Vilnius. We gather to protest the abuse by the State.
