UPDATED 21.6.2016: Today (21 June) Seimas passed the new Labour Code which will come to effect in Lithuania in 2017. The voting results: For: 68, Against: 12, Abstained: 14. The list with the individual votes of each member of Seimas can be found here.
This Tuesday (21 June) Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania began the proceedings on passing the new Labour Code after the initial voting scheduled for last Thursday (16 June) was postponed for a week. According to the Union of the Food Industry, which is one of the biggest labour unions, and the Labour Union Confederation, the proceedings seem “too hasty.”
The New Labour Code Project was already widely criticised for its disregard of the workers rights and social securities.
